Your agent, always on.

Kedalio is a personal agent you configure once. It runs on your own servers, day and night, leads squads of other agents, and asks you only what goes beyond what you allowed. Claude Code, Codex or a model behind an API key is the engine you put in it.

Open source, AGPL-3.0. Self-hosted. Pre-release: 1.0 is being built in the open.

The Kedalio mark: a disc whose cap slides up and leaves a k in the cut.
What it gives your agent

Memory, arms, economy, craft.

Four things an agent needs to work for you while you do something else.

Memory

A brain on your server

Notes, people, projects, a diary and your tasks, searched by words and, with an embedding model, by meaning. The same memory for your agent, its squads, Claude and ChatGPT.

Arms

Hosts that hold nothing

A host is one container that connects out to your server. Every run builds its own environment from the server: repository, rules, skills, tools, secrets. Losing a host loses nothing.

Economy

Every run has a price

Several engine accounts and their usage windows, the cost of every run in a ledger, budgets that stop a squad, and a cascade that starts on a small model and climbs only when the check fails.

Craft

Skills every engine reads

Instructions in SKILL.md, the open format Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode read, delivered to every run from the server. Squads try new ones; you promote what works.

How it works

One server holds everything. Hosts only do the work.

Nothing to keep in step between machines: the server is the only source of truth, and every other piece is built from it.

You

  • The app, on desktop and phone
  • Claude, through the connector
  • ChatGPT, through the connector

Your server

  • Your agent, squads, assignments
  • Memory and tasks
  • The vault, encrypted
  • Accounts, limits, the ledger

Your hosts

  • One container each
  • Behind NAT, no open port
  • A worktree per agent
Overnight

You say it once. In the morning, it is done or waiting for you.

A squad is a tree of agents with one budget. Each request climbs to the parent first; only what exceeds the delegation reaches you, as a notification on your phone.

Why it reached you: adding a dependency is beyond its leader's delegation.

This morning's report

Overnight: 3 assignments, 2 done, 1 waiting for you. $4.10 across 2 accounts.

Principles

Rules the code is checked against.

  1. The server is the only truthHosts keep caches only. Losing one loses nothing but the runs it had in flight.
  2. Nothing to synchroniseNo shared folders, no copied configuration, nothing to keep in step between machines.
  3. Simple to mountA server is one command, a host is one line. Every manual step is counted, and is a bug.
  4. The CLI is the last resortEverything is meant to be done from the app, repairs included. A command exists only for a box with no screen.
  5. Self-host firstThe hosted offer that may come after 1.0 is the same image.
  6. No subscription token against the APIEngines run through their official CLIs with their own login. API keys are a separate, explicit kind of account.
  7. Three kinds of credentialYour access, one token per host, secrets in the vault. Nothing else to create, copy or rotate by hand.
Status

Pre-release, and honest about it.

Kedalio 1.0 is done when four scenarios pass on a real server, as a scripted test. Until then the guides describe only what is built.

Built
  • The server, the installer and a Coolify template
  • Hosts that join with a one-use code and update themselves
  • Squads with budgets, requests that climb, branches per agent
  • Assignments on a schedule, unattended runs, the morning report
  • Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Pi as engines; usage windows and the cost ledger
  • The app: Today, Squads, requests, briefs and skill changes to approve, push notifications, your access
  • One MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT

What works today, in detail

Install

One command on a machine with Docker.

It asks for the domain, starts the server, TLS and a first host, and prints the link that makes your account. The address goes live with the first public release.
